Institute of Home Science was established as Institute of Household Art and Home Science in 1968 under the huge umbrella of Dr B R Ambedkar University. The institute got its present name in 1980 as per the suggestions of University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute comprises of five distinguished departments, such as Department of Home Science Education and Extension, Department of Foods and Nutrition, Department of Child Development, Department of Clothing & Textiles and Department of Home Management.
